The Older the Man, the Smaller the Speedo, and More Revealed is a humorous, but dark reflection on the absurdities of everyday life. Based on one of Ace's most popular titles, this collections captures the very odd sense of humor that characterizes Ace's work. Though it is not for easily offended, it is certain to make you laugh as you reflect on how Ace's crude but honest interpretation of people and places in our lives is both brutally honest and hilarious. Howard Stern meets The Onion in this very original collection of essays.

I live at the beach and I see a lot of old men in Speedos—the most recent sighting was a fuzzy character who looked a little too much like the late actor, Robert Logia. I’ve yet to shed that image. But an old man who chooses to wear such bathing attire has to have two things—a boatload of self-confidence and a great sense of humor. That’s what Ace Sidney has, too. He brings a delightful. off-color view to writing, growing older and the general absurdity of daily living in this fun collection of true-life fiction (is that a thing?). In the opening story, he offers some sage advice on writing your first Kindle book with some tips on gaining weight, whether you want them or not. As a writer myself, I might just try his method. I love Klondike bars, so I imagine my output might increase greatly (along with my jean size). This was followed by “NDE” (Near Death Experience, if you’re wondering). Apparently, Mr. Sydney aspires to expire, just as long as he can live to tell about it. In “Aunt Sylvia” our author shares a rather dreadful confession that he’s beginning to look more and more like the late psychic and author Sylvia Brown. This wasn’t a hot look for a woman, so much less for a man. I loved the drollness of Mr. Sydney’s humor. It reminded me of my own dad’s dry wit and frankly, it’s lost on the more recent generations (at the risk of sounding like an old fart myself). People just don’t “get” certain types of humor like they once did. However, these are brief vignettes that range from Liza Minnelli’s sparkly pantsuits to odd names given to ice cream flavors (and a little TMI regarding Uncle Frank’s penis) to the Muppets’ lack of genitalia (for which I’m personally thankful for—who wants to see Fozzy’s fuzzy naughty bits?), all of which are wonderfully descriptive and definitely not for anyone who makes it a habit of being offended over things that are actually funny. Sorry, effective humor doesn’t carry a PC sticker. This is a great book to share if you’re lucky enough to have others around you who love to laugh.Product details
